I like this piece because in many ways its the first 3D model I've made in my own angular style. I thought that despite the level of detail on my hi poly soldier he just didn't have enough character. My mind set for this piece was to make something fairly realistic with cartoony mannerisms. He still needs some work and after this piece I want to create a more cartoony one...perhaps a nemesis for my toaster.

A low poly sniper rifle I made in softimage in order to get to grips with working to a poly count. I set myself a target of 3000 polys whilst trying to stay below that amount I also wanted a detailed model. The end result was just below 2200 polys.

Working in Mudbox and Sotimage I have started to build a background for my train model scene. I may well reduce the poly count as its is probably too high for my scene. I will build another model with a higher poly count for the foreground with assets to a very western theme.

Using the Mudbox preset for a male model I have sculpted this soldier character. Before I start any model I have a few moments of frantic brain waving which I thumbnail down onto paper as quickly as possible. Next I create my conceptual ideas. For this piece I was trying to retain as much realism as possible whilst retaining character. Working between xsi for the more bulky geometric components such as the watch and mudbox for the organic components. I intended this piece to be a high poly sculpt (over 2 million), its impractical for animation but could still be ultimapped onto a lower poly model. Next time I will box model the low res version myself and retain that model to animate with.

I wanted to build a game interior that encapsulated the feeling of epic scale. The sort of setting you walk into after having being in a very claustrophobic dank dark corridor. I wanted it to have elements that could be jumped over (possibly climbed up)

For one of our assignments we are expected to model,texture,rig and animate a kitchen appliance. When creating concepts for the character I wanted him to have the guise of an old grizzled toaster with a almost western theme. I look forward to animating this, I should be able to get some nice shape animation in the mustache and the eyebrows for comic effect.
