This is a Macro I put together that makes a fast and easy way to give a lightsaber glow to RotoShape Nodes. I based the macro from the "Ryan Wieber" lightsaber method. In his after effects tutorials he makes his lightsaber glows from 3 duplicated rotoshape layers with different blur ratios. I have simply done that same effect all locked down into one node. This node has one input, output, mask layer, and the following basic parameter controls:
centerSpread - allows you to adjust the spread of the main white light on the shape
glowIntensity - adjusts the size of the aura of light that glows from the center
lightFade - controls the distance the light glows from the edge
rgb_Level - adjusts the midtone red green and blues to get the color lightsaber you want
saber_Opacity - Not a necessary control, but the name speaks for itself
motionBlur w/ shutterTiming - easy to use motion blur sliders
By using this node I am assuming you know how to create a white rotoshape with alpha channel. Just create your shape, pop the WCP_Lightsaber Node on, give it some color and comp it on top of your main image. I hope you enjoy this Macro and I will soon be coming out with lightsaber flicker and clash to add onto this effect, so be on the lookout.
