In this way, Even when in "shaded mode"...
the shelfbutton GUI easily illustrates the actual culling state with a wireframe image.

install icons to your icons folder and run this setup script:

cly_toggleCullingShelfButtonSetUp ( from the command line )

from the shelfButton created...
click to toggle the selected poly object's culling state.

Double click to toggle both selected and unselected poly objects's culling state. ( toggle all objects )

the icon will change reflecting the current back face culling state!

togglePolyCulling culling off
togglePolyCullingOn culling on
