They are all about Jobs. The Digital Animation&Visual Effects School (DAVE School) provides career training in computer animation. This means that rather than just teaching animation, they teach you how to work at a production facility. Whether
its for animation, visual effects, or game art, our employer designed
curriculum takes you from zero to production ready in 12 months.
Jeff Scheetz, a Los Angeles Visual Effects Supervisor, designed the program. His credits include, Star Trek Voyager, Babylon 5, and Roughnecks the Starship Trooper Chronicles. During his time at Foundation Imaging, Jeff hired and supervised crews taking the company from 4 artists to over 100. To
get artists production ready in a short period of time he developed a
program that remains at the core of the DAVE School experience.
Essentially,
you will spend 9 months training for a 12-week production exercise
where the class works together to create an instructor directed project
using common studios pipelines. When you
graduate, youre not just ready to create CGI, you are ready to clock
in and go to work! The films created in our program have the same
production challenges and life lessons you will experience on the job. This
experience, gives you a deeper understanding of what it takes to work
on a production team, and how to offer real value to an employer. You can see over a dozen films created in class right now at www.DaveSchool.com.
The DAVE School is located at Universal Studios Orlando. In addition to its two theme parks, Universal operates a fully functional motion picture and television studio. These resources are used throughout our program in addition to The DAVE Schools own on-site production studio. Our facilities feature a 24-camera Vicon Motion Capture System and green screen stage. The
workstations are updated constantly with the latest versions of our
core programs including LightWave 3D, Motion Builder, Digital Fusion,
Boujou, Photoshop, Premier, and more.
LightWave? Yes, LightWave. Theyve
had graduates who use LightWave, at companies including Digital Domain,
Rhythm and Hues, Radical 3D, Light Storm Entertainment, Zoic Studios,
Eden FX, Branit VFX, and on Projects like Battlestar Galactica, Lost,
and 24. Some have been able to port their
training to Maya, SOFTIMAGE, or 3ds Max and work at companies like Sony
Pictures Imageworks, DreamWorks, Disney Feature Animation, and
Lucasfilm Singapore.
