First trailer of "PAUL", the last Nick Frost and Simon Pegg's comedie who also made Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. VFX house: Double negative.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, having already skewered the zombie horror and buddy cop genres with Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz, are teaming up once again to create Paul, a knock-about comedy about extraterrestrial encounters.
Seth Rogen provides the voice of Paul, the diminutive alien whom comic book nerds Graeme and Clive (Pegg and Frost) encounter near infamous UFO hotspot, Area 51. Superbad director Greg Mottola’s the helmer, and Juno’s Jason Bateman plays the Special Agent on Paul’s trail.
The script’s been penned by Pegg and Frost themselves, so we should be guaranteed plenty of laughs, though there’s the odd moment in this first trailer that has the faintest whiff of the 1988 burger joint-sponsored E.T. rip-off, Mac And Me. Or maybe that’s just us…
Paul is due for release on 18 February in the UK, and 18 March 2011 in the US.
