I have been getting into shader writing somewhat recently I thought I would share what I did with the community.  This may work on earlier or later versions of maya but I`ve not had a chance to test it so you will have to let me know.

Install:

place the dll in  mayainstall / mental ray / lib
place the mi in  mayainstall / mental ray / include
place the icon in yourdocs / maya / mayax.xx / prefs / icons
