Best and clean script, but very slow when 500 or 2000 pieces.

I dont understand why i keep getting errors in the Particles to Locators button, it keeps saying that whatever particles i select (even the entire group).count is invalid. Why is that?

This is exactly what I have been looking for, for about a week now.

Unfortunately I get the following error after I have selected mesh then two locators:
#Error: RuntimeError: No Valid objects supplied to 'xform' command

I am new to maya so I am unsure of what I am doing wrong.

have put both *.py and .mel files into - my docs/maya/version/scripts

I see a comment above that the *.py goes into the DLL directory of Python - new to maya I have no idea where that is. I hope someone may be able to help me out, cheers.

Awesome Script
and to those who don't know where to paste the python script
go here
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2011\Python
then just follow the instructions

Hi, thank you very much for the Script, it is perfect to me now.
but I had some problem as upper floor,
#Error: RuntimeError: No Valid objects supplied to 'xform' command
although I tried a lot of times and did put the file in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2011\Python
Thank you very much!

The instructions are really bad for new comers. Put the .py in /Python and /Python/dll, and not sure if either work because I also get the "xform" error mentioned above.

Ok, so, it turns out "select a group of locators" doesn't mean "select a bunch of locators". I took a look at the script (never programmed in mel before, but I am a developer) and noticed that the LAST selection must be a group, thus, 1. you create locators and put them in a group [select them all and group them], 2. you select the object to shatter, 3. using the out-liner view, hold the control key and ALSO select the group created in #1, 4. press the Voronoi Shatter button. It's important that there are only 2 selections, the first being the mesh, and the second being the group node.''

Hopefully that helps someone, thanks,
James
