Anim Block Tool is a cool Python script that creates as many columns and rows as needed. It measures the distance between the main controller and the base of each block, which moves the blocks up and down. Also the tool has a collision option that detects rigid bodies. You can download the script here. The newest updates that are coming soon will make this tool more flexible for animators.
