Just wanted to inform you about HDFEST Music-- which now lists bands and musicians who are looking to place their songs in indie film and animation.

Each music profile lists how the musician or band could potentially work with a filmmakers for example "music rights available for film festival use gratis!!" "all rights available" "willing to compose music for film" etc. HDFEST makes these introductions and afterwards is totally out of the picture.

All of this music is really quite excellent and would definitely benefit nearly any indie film. Categories include electronic, rock, downtempo, experimental, jazz, etc. Many of the artists in the database are offering their music free to filmmakers and animators for film festival usage in order to get more exposure for their work.
