Hi,

I've set up a scene with the maya envronment fog, however I want to render it as a separate layer so I can tweak it in the composite.

I can't quite figure out the correct method to do this. If I make a new render layer with just the fog, obviously it's not obscured by the foreground objects in the right places. I've tried turning off the primary visibilty of all the other objects but that doesn't work.

And how would one then composite the two layers back together (I'm using Nuke)? I've tried simulating it by creating a ramp in Nuke, multiplying by the inverted foreground object depth channel and merging back together with the scene rendered without the fog, but I can't get it to look remotely like the maya render with the environment fog.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Ben
