I created a character with sculpted handwraps and was wondering if there was some way to render this character with SSS fast skin shader and keep those wraps looking right. Does it all deal with just painting separate maps or will I have to somehow separate the wraps and use a different shader on them?

A seperate shader would be appropriate. You could go into face mode and select the polygonal faces with the wrap and connect those specific faces to a new material by right clicking without having to seperate them from the model.
