Iam new to fluids i followed a tutorial to make smoke i took the same scene file from that tutorial and rendered it  it was rendering like thick puff ball  instead of smoke is  there any setting in mentalray i need to change to get the look



for me it was rendering like this


In tutorial he got look like this

Be sure to use raytraced shadows in MR on your lights.  Also, you may want to change the overall  resolution of your fluid, add a bit of noise, change the color of the fluid (under shader) and just to be sure, check "use real lights" on the fluid object under Shadowing...

You can try to mess with your opacity ramp, and or the over transparency at the same time.  Also, the sim res looks to be higher on the bottom pic.    Also check your sim quality, and your solver quality.

in texture section play with depth max attribute. make sure to enable texture opacity attribute
