This is a simple script done in Maya that lets you put a noise modifier on a poly object, with this you can:
-randomly move vertices along the 3 axes between a specified range
-randomly move vertices along their normals between a specified range
-select vertices you don't want to apply modifier to
-load maps to manage percentage of movement
-obtain a precise displacement according to a grayscale map just like a bump map or a displacement map
you can also see interactively the result and change it after the modifier has been applied by the modifier slider or by Maya artisan
