thank you for friendship :) I am familiar with char. setup for long time(from TDI Explore times) so I am little bit "old dog", but for the shame of mine I am lazy and I am not so familiar with scripting so what I use for char. setup(especially topologically efficient char. modelling, skinning and riging) is simple, effective, but too much slow sometimes(several days for char. setup in advertising area is too much :). I make it by hand(with some usefull script of course) and planning it well not to cycle myself in animator's requirement. :)

But in case of your rig I think it is extremelly good work! Keep it up. It help really much! Doing it with maya's native nodes is the way to speeding up performance.

And finally: this character is stylised daman for short movie serie. This is serie aimed to children for evening stories. :) We are now in developing stage and facing many difficulties as char. setup of small elephant which is walking partially bipedal and quadripedal. So I had to add some features to your great rig little bit.

BTW: maybe just last question about Rapid Rig. It is about root of the foot. You have placed its pivot to ankle point. Isn't it better to have it back on the root of the character's heel? I know that animator can solve the interaction of foot with ground with "HeelBall" attribute, but our animators ask for "pivot on the heel!" But it is just hint, because not every animator is the same dictator as these of ours :D

That's great, good luck with your show! Once I get all the bugs out and features in on this rig, I will be making one for quadrupeds.

The reason I put the pivot on the ankle was so when the character's foot is off the ground, you can rotate around the ankle rather than the heel, which makes for more natural movement, at least in my experience. I realize that everyone has their own way of doing things, so writing this script to accommodate everyone is impossible.

But I do appreciate the feedback I get from my users, if people can explain why something would be better if it was done differently than how i did it, then I will update my rig. I have barely used the rig myself for animating, because I am still working on it so much.

I have a good user base, and the rig is a lot better than it was a few months ago when I started working on it. A lot of the improvements is from suggestions from people who have played with the rig.

Version 1.2.3 of the advanced rig has the fix to the stretchy legs. In the future if you find other bugs or have other suggestions for the advanced rig, you can add them to the rapid rig advanced page, this is the basic rig page. The advanced rig is here:
