QANTAS Airways originally painted its Boeing 747-438 VH-OJB in the special "Wunala Dreaming" livery in 1994. When VH-OJB was repainted into regular colors on March 11, 2003, the pictured 747-438 ER (Extended Range) VH-OEJ replaced VH-OJB in the special art scheme. VH-OEJ was painted in this special scheme at New Iberia, LA in August 2003. The airliner arrived at Sydney on August 17, 2003. The design was by John Moriarty and his wife Ros (Balarinji Designs). The design features the spirits of Indigenous Australians in the form of kangaroos traveling through the red desert landscape. Wunala means kangaroo.
